Earlier I mentioned that I was taking part in Help-Portrait with scant details. Now, here are the details.

I will be joined by four photographers, Jon Hammond, Jeremy Hall, Tom Crammond and Talia Greenhalgh at The Markets @ Perth Cultural Centre this weekend, on the 12th of December, 10AM-5PM. We will be taking portraits of visitors to The Markets and in the spirit of Help-Portrait, people will not be charged for their photos.

We are also setting up a surprise for stallholders. We will take photos of the people that spend their weekends at The Markets. They set up each week not knowing what the weekend will bring and have survived storms, wind, rain and some incredibly hot days. Just don’t tell them that we’re planning this, it’s a surprise! It’s just between you, me and the Internet.

We will also be wanting to take portraits of visitors to The Markets, and again at no cost. Completely free.

We will have two printing stations at The Markets set up ready to print the portraits so people can take them home on the day.

So if you’re a regular to The Markets, come along. We’d love to meet you.

We’ll be easy to spot. We’ll be the group with all the strange and freaky looking camera gear.

Why hold this event at The Markets @ Perth Cultural Centre? The proceeds from this market go towards projects to help youth in crisis in Perth and they’re open on the weekend of Help-Portrait.

I’ve been asked by people as to what I gain from this. To be honest, I’m hoping to gain satisfaction from making other people happy. That’s it. I’m not even handing out business cards or mentioning my website. I’m not promoting myself as a photographer. This is purely photos for other people. None of the photos taken are destined for a portfolio. They’re not even being submitted to Help-Portrait. Absolutely nowhere.

These photos will be a private moment of joy shared between the photographer and the person who is in the photo.
